Doug, do you have any fucking clue how baseball works in the offseason? Seriously. Any fucking clue? Nobody gets offered Arby? What the fuck would it hurt just to make the offer? And if somebody like Cameron or Lopez accepts, YOU CAN FUCKING TRADE THEM FOR PITCHING. Jesus fucking christ. What a dolt.

I noticed that. I just don't understand not offering Lopez arbitration. There's no chance in hell he accepts. That was basically a free draft pick. Kendall and Cameron are one thing, even though I wouldn't mind offering Cameron, but that means you absolutely have to trade Hart. Again, that's fine. Weathers, well duh. Looper, no thanks.
Bottom line, it makes no fucking sense not to offer arbitration to Lopez.
Link is totally NSFW, but it looks like someone beat you to your best idea...
YES. And fucking draft picks! Our system is fucked right now. I'm pissed.
Not offering Lopez arby is one of those things that's so absurd that there's obviously some reason not being reported. My first thought was that Lopez as a condition of accepting a trade to Milwaukee got Melvin to agree not to offer him arby. That would make sense if Lopez were a Type A free agent because the team signing him would lose a pick and thus be less inclined to sign him. It would diminish his asking price. However, Lopez is not a Type A FA. So, this makes no sense to me.
I completely understand the other players, but Lopez is beyond me. What am I missing?
If there is any consolation, I think it's that these 2nd round picks are not all that important. First round picks are still much more valuable. And, in this day and age, everything needs to be measured against dollars spent. Especially for the Brewers, everything is measured against dollars. Second round picks are expensive and more often than not don't make the majors. Considering Lopez would be worthy of about the 50th overall pick, we're not talking about anything too great. If the Brewers spent the money saved there on some latin american talent, the move doesn't bother me all that much. But if they're going to spend it on some middling FA starting pitcher, then they might as well just give it directly to terrorists in Arabia.
Well, that's the last time I click on a link on this blog at work.
Posting NSFW in the subsequent comment just doesn't cut it.
Agreed, not cool brother. I very easily could have clicked it too and did not see your warning first. I'm deleting it.
Meanwhile, Meiz, fantastic foray into the BCS Brewers hatred. I can understand not offering Kendall, and the guys for whom they already declined arbitration, but Lopez was absolutely going to turn it down. Cameron may have, but that would have given the Brewers some flexibility to trade Corey Hart.
The Tigers didn't offer arby to Polanco but did to Fernando Rodney and Brandon Lyon...HUH!?
