Seth McClung Reacts to the Looper signing

On a less serious note, BP put out their first pass at projected 2009 standings. They seem to agree with Condescendy and I on the overratedness of Anaheim and Houston and the underratedness of Oakland's chances and Chicago's deathgrip on the NL Central.

As expected, it looks like the two target divisions are the AL West and NL West, where there is no clear favorite and good gamblers' odds.

I was a little surprised at BP's assessment of the AL Central, where there too is no clear favorite but where 4 of the teams' odds have not been good enough for gambling purposes. I am very surprised to see the Royals so close to the top and actually ahead of the White Sox, who I believe have a decent shot at the division, though not as good as the Twins, Indians or Tigers. If one of those three teams could get 30+:1 odds to win the World Series, I'd take it.

But I don't want to spoil our gambling profiles we will later produce. Consider this a teaser.

Looper looks kinda like Octo-Stewie from the Y2K episode of Family Guy in your picture.

To anyone watching the MU game right now...what's with the propaganda floating across the top of the screen???

BEast officials did not want us to win that game. That's fine and to be expected. However, an 18 point loss in a fairly tight game looks really bad. Thank God we're back home.

And FUCK ESPN and their 36 polls. Note to ESPN: I tune in to watch a fucking basketball game, not Jeopardy. Absurd.

I like the blood effects, and think the looper signing is a decent backup plan, he should outpreform suppan and his crufix curveball. its pretty pathetic that this took 5 minutes to type, thinking in german is a bummer

There was a 25-point swing between the game against Nova in Milwaukee and there. That's fucking stupid.

The game was actually extremely evenly played, except for Nova shooting an absurd percentage from the field. MU had more fouls, but that's because, illogically, they started fouling with 2 minutes left in the game and just kept going. Nova outrebounded MU, but a lot of that is due to the fact that MU missed more shots. Nova is a very good team. MU is not a bad defensive team, at least not on the perimeter, even against a team like Nova. The fact that Nova shot 13-24 from 3-pt range means you've just got to tip the hat. MU shot over 50%, too, but just couldn't close the gap down the stretch.

There were two things that were infuriating, other than the refs. (1) the freethrow shooting. 11-23. Come on. I know they're tired and it was an up and down game, but that's inexcusable and really hadn't been much of a problem until the last two games. I hope this isn't a new trend. (2) the loss of focus when the game got late and they were down. The fouling when the game was over was awful, but worse was the pressing trying to steal the ball by swatting and getting out of position when the game was not over. Let's hope that's not a developing trend.

Perhaps this is good for the team. 2 losses in a row put them in a funk. Well, I can almost guarantee that they will lose two games in a row during their final 5 regular season games. It's something they have to realize is not the end of the world or reason to start pressing. And, if they aren't ranked in the top 15, they've got much better odds on the road at Geotown.

They were making it rain. It's tough to beat any team that hot.

Anyone else pay attention to the Big 11 yawnfest between Michigan and Mich St? Talk about the exact opposite of the Nova game...

Condy and I flipped to it occasionally, but couldn't take it. I'm sorry, but that's not basketball. I won't get into a debate about how Big Ten teams stack up against other power conferences, but come the fuck on. PUT THE GOD DAMN BASKETBALL THROUGH THE HOOP. PENETRATE. RUN. Jesus Christ, James Naasmith would have turned the fucking channel.

Speaking of basketball teams that are better than Michigan State, Dayton put points in the face of Xavier last night. Congrats to Dayton on most likely clinching an NCAA berth and what should be an appearance in the top-25 next week.

Skip Dizzle said...

Dayton is amazingly impressive...a team with that much physical ability can beat anyone (Clemson is a fair comparison). MU really needs to fix this FT shooting, since it was one of the key contributors to the USF loss. Nova shot the lights out (Reynolds and Wright mostly) and Dante Cunningham didn't hurt us as much as he should (congrats to Hazel and Burke for some solid D). MU should get back on track with a game at home v. St. John's, but it's hard to tell. If you get to the line 30 times and only make 15 of those, you're just wasting possessions.

Skip, you little traitor you! Which is it buddy, BCS or Cracked Sidewalks?

I'm glad (and completely unsurprised) that ESPN's "interactive LMAO TTYL BRB OMG" Fest was unanimously despised across America. I cannot think of a worse gimic for a sporting event, and I'm INCLUDING Scooter the talking pussy-armed baseball. I think it's safe to say we won't be seeing teenage text fest Tuesday anytime soon.

My allegiances are with Brew City forever, Old Hoss, naturally. Had to say thank you to the Cracked Sidewalks folks though for taking what we all thought and acting on it.

I can't figure out how to create a new post, so I figured I'd post this here. It's worth many a laugh:

I'll watch that one when I get home, T. I've got a busy day today, would somebody mind photoshopping the current photo for this post, replacing McClung's face with Buzz Zoolangody's and Looper's with all of Louisville's roster?

So everyone loves ND again now after one game?

Brew City Bub said...

That wasn't an expression of love for ND. However, I have been captaining the USS McAllilander BCS fan club for the last several years, even during the recent seven game skid. Did anybody else watch the game? He does some incredible goofy whiteboy shit night in and night out that nobody of his size and ethnicity should be able to do.

The rest of the team showed signs of life last night, sure, but I'm gonna have to wait a few games before I declare it a meaningful trend.

Brew City Bub said...

I will say, though, that you don't often, or ever, find a team that just lost seven in a row, the most recent of which was a completely listless 26-point ass kicking, who then beats a top-5 team by 33 points. At least they don't think they're dead yet.
