Sat, Jun 30 2:55 pm - B. Sheets vs. S. Marshall

Who starts a baseball game at 2:55 PM? I hate the Cubs.

The Chubbs Peterson Story

Right down to the one-eyed gator and everything.

Manny Parra Pitches Perfect Game

Update: I see it has already been discussed a bit in an older post...

Link :)

ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) -- Milwaukee Brewers farmhand Manny Parra pitched a perfect game Monday night, leading the Nashville Sounds to a 3-0 victory over Round Rock in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League.

Making his second start at Triple-A, Parra struck out 11 and threw 77 of his 107 pitches for strikes against the Express, a Houston Astros affiliate.

Spurling, with the first Back-to-Back HIAWDA of the year.

Brewers vs. Astros June 25-27

6/25: J. Jennings vs. B. Sheets

6/26: W. Rodriguez vs. C. Vargas

6/27: W. Williams vs. J. Suppan

The Brewers have four series until the All-Star break, all of which are against under .500 teams. I strongly believe we can win all of them and will sweep at least one. That being said, yesterday's batting strategy toward the end of the game and pitching management was cause for concern. If the Brewers can avoid those mistakes, they will be sitting pretty at the halfway point.
Bring on the Cubs...

Kansas City Royals @ Brewers June 22-24

Friday 7:05 De La Rosa vs. Suppan
Saturday 6:05 Bannister vs. Bush
Sunday 1:05 Perez vs. Gallardo

The above picture is a Lamborghini Gallardo. Clearly it's a fucking sweet car. It, like the rest of Milwaukee, has a raging Yovanni Gallardo boner, which sucks for the car cause it scrapes against the ground at high speeds.

Also, for those pissed at the Suppan signing in the offseason: just think, our starter Friday could be de la Rosa. That alone is worth at least a couple mil on Soup's contract.

Brewers vs Giants June 18-20

June 18: N. Lowery vs. Y. Gallardo. WP Gallardo (1-0), S Cordero (26)

June 19: T Lincecum vs. B. Sheets

June 20: B. Zito vs. C. Vargas

I figured I would give you all an opportunity to express excitement over Gallardo's start last night. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and with 102-62 pitches-strikes. Don't forget his RBI double in the 2nd inning as well.

Hi, I'm a worthless dick.

After you're done digging for gold, you might want to find yourself a minor league job, asshole.

The Moment We've All Been Waiting For...

It's not just Gallardo and it's certainly not about seeing Bonds. It's this . . .

Projected Lineup, Monday June 18, 2007:
RF Hart
SS Hardy
3B Braun
1B Fielder
CF Hall
LF Jenkins
C Gwynn Jr.
2B Weeks
P Gallardo

Okay, the Gwynn at catcher thing may be a stretch, but still...8 Brewers draftees in the starting lineup tonight. All of these top prospects from the last 4 years have, at least to some extent, panned out. This is quite an extraordinary moment for Brewers fans and quite an accomplishment for the organization. This is the fruit of four years of exceptional labor by the front office. Very excited to be going to the game tonight.

With Hall and Hart starting to pound the ball, the offense has been on fire the last week. The Brewers will face some tough starting pitching this series from the Giants, but the Giants are a step down in talent from the recent competition the Brewers have faced. Finally returned home, the Crew is favored to take 2 out of 3.

Dominic James Returning to Marquette

It looks like Dominic James (better known as the one shitty player from the above picture) will be returning to Marquette for his junior season. I don't know whether to be happy or disappointed. I suppose he'll take some media attention and pressure off of McTurnover, Matthews and Barro. Perhaps the jump shot will come around.
Is there any question as to who wins the HIAWDA tomorrow?

3TO Violates Zambrano with Potent Stick

Branyan goes yard in the 9th to break a scoreless tie between the Padres and Cubs. What's better, Zambrano goes the distance, gives up 2 hits, and loses. We salute you, Russell Branyan, for your majestic power and hilarious antics. And yes, I desperately wish Mr. Branyan was still a Milwaukee Brewer, although it's clear he still works for Milwaukee.

Fuck it, we're pulling out all the stops

So you've lost 20 of 31 and still haven't lost ground in your division? You think that this luck will keep up forever? Fuck no. Capuano will be hitting the DL and Yo Gallardo will replace him. I Expect Villanueva to start in Capuano's stead, but Gallardo will be a tremendous asset to the bullpen. The bullpen will look downright scary when Cappy returns, assuming we send spurling down. Cordero, Turnbow, Villanueva, Gallardo, Wise, Shouse looks much, much better than what we trotted out at the beginning of the year. Using Gallardo out of the pen will go a long way to protect his arm for the rest of the season, as it should limit his pitch count and innings (as opposed to starting at AAA). We'll need him fresh if we hope to compete in September.

The only question now is what happens when Weeks gets back? DFA Estrada? Send Gross or Gwynn down? My guess would be Gwynn, simply because Yost loved him at the top of the lineup, but with Hart playing well there and Weeks slated to hit 1 or 2 when he returns, there's no room in the lineup for Gwynn.

These are exciting times for the big league club, but until LaPorta signs, we may have one of the five worst minor league systems in baseball.

Hi, I'm A Worthless Dick. (Week of 6/4/07)

Yes folks, that's right. Our own JJ Hottie wins the HIAWDA for his performance the preceding week where, in 23 AB, he hit .130, slugged .130, drew 1 walk, and committed 3 errors. He played like a 12 year old girl, which is what he kind of looks like in this pre-pubescent photo. But wow, even back then you could tell he was going to be hot. I mean look at those eyes, that smile, that incredible bone structure....sorry, I digress. Better luck next week, asshole. Oh, and nice fucking shirt. All you need now is those funky lasers in the background and some metal in your mouth and you would be every 1990's school boy ever.

Brewers vs. Rangers June 8-10

06/08 - Capuano vs. Tejeda

06/09 - Sheets vs. McCarthy

06/10 - Bush vs. Padilla

Nothing like playing the worst team in baseball (21-39) to extend our lead in the NL Central. Please note that NONE of their pitchers for this series have an ERA under 6.

2007 MLB Draft

The draft is tomorrow and televised on ESPN. It should be a very interesting watch, if only to see how an MLB draft can ever be televised. This year's class is neither exceptionally strong nor weak. The Brewers draft 7th overall, and, unfortunately, seem destined to take a high school pitcher.

There are a few Scott Boras clients that would otherwise crack the top-10 if not for their association with Boras. A month ago, I thought this was a good thing for the Brewers. I figured this would be the year the Brewers dealt with Boras. After all, they only pick once in about the first 100 picks of the draft. However, the Brewers signed three of the top five "Draft and Follow" picks from last year's draft. In all likelihood, the Brewers paid about first round bonus money for the three players combined. It's a good thing they signed, don't get me wrong, but those signings will likely cut into the budget for this year's first round. Hence, don't expect the Brewers to draft Georgia Tech catcher Matt Wieters or top high school arm Rick Porcello. In the 7th slot, the Brewers will likely choose between prep pitcher Jarrod Parker out of Indiana or Canadian prep pitcher Phillippe Aumount. I'm not fond of either pick, obviously. I really don't like drafting high school pitchers this high, especially high schoolers from north of the Mason-Dixon. However, these guys apparently have very high ceilings. We'll just have to watch tomorrow's draft to find out who the Brewers pick. MLB drafts are notoriously unpredictable.

Brewers vs. Chubs (June 4th-6th)

Monday 7:05
Bush vs. Marquis

Tuesday 7:05
Vargas vs. Lilly

Wednesday 1:05
Suppan vs. Slappy Z

I'm still without a computer, as many have probably noticed given my lack of posts, but I'm really up for this series and will certainly have some choice words. The Brewers definitely got the shit end of the stick with the pitching matchups, but the chubs come into town 7.5 back and dragging. It's a chance for the Brewers to either put them away or let them back into the division. A chubs sweep would be absolutely demoralizing for the Brewers, but a Brewers sweep would knock the chubs out of contention.

Happy birthday Zambrano!

Nice palm slap to the face, asshole.

Marlins Series 5/31-6/3

5/31 Untermueller vs. Vargas. WP Villanueva (4-0), LP Lindstrom (0-2). S Cordero (19)

6/1 Olsen vs. Suppan

6/2 Kim vs. Capuano

6/3 Willis vs. Sheets

It's no mistake that these guys play well at home (19-9, best in the NL, tied in the AL), let's hope they keep it up against a mediocre-at-best NL opponent.
