Giants vs. Brewers 7/20-22

7/20/07 - N. Lowry vs. J. Suppan
7/21/07 - T. Lincecum vs. D. Bush
7/22/07 - B. Zito vs. C. Vargas
The Giants are just terrible right now, I won't make predictions, but taking 2/3 fromt these guys would be disappointing. Oh, I guess I'll go ahead and say the obvious: nice stache, douche.

Now I'm just going for the early kill.
I don't care how funny the Bonds side-by-side is...nothing compares to Sammy Sosa. Nothing.
I didn't study journalism or anything, but I don't really have to have any special knowledge to notice the holes in this reporting:
"Jul 19 ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago is reporting a Milwaukee radio station had inside knowledge of a potential trade involving the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds. The deal would send Reds OF Adam Dunn to Milwaukee in exchange for Brewers OF Tony Gwynn Jr. and a possible player to be named later or cash."
ESPN Radio in Chicago is probably the least reliable "source" in the history of the New World. Add, too, that its source was a Milwaukee radio station with "inside knowledge." Then, look at the substance of that trade and tell me why on God's green earth Wayne Krivsky, as retarded as he can be sometimes, would take that trade.
Sure, there's a place for this kind of stuff. One place off the top of my head is mlbtraderumors.com, which is actually a very good site. But, this particular piece was on Yahoo, and not in some kind of "Unreliable Nonsense" section.
Now, Brewers fans, like so many fucking annoying Cubs fans before them, are going to get all amped up about finally having a good player for the first time since the early 90's. And, they're going to be disappointed.
I don't doubt that there have been trade talks between Krivsky and Brewers Cerberus, but the chances of the Brewers getting Dunn are very slim, and the chances of the Brewers getting Dunn for Chris Gwynn's God damn nephew...are you kidding me? You're all more than welcome to get in my face if this trade goes through, but it would be an even worse trade than the one Krivsky pulled last July...unless this "player to be named" is named one day later and is named Yovani Gallardo.
If there's going to be a trade, which I would love, I would anticipate someone like Rickie Weeks being involved.
I saw another rumor floating around - Dotel to Brewers. I like it, as long as they don't have to give much up. Unfortunately, his value is going to be inflated because he has a few saves this season. I can't think of a more overvalued stat in baseball.
By Brewers fans, I'm pretty sure Condescendy means 'BrewCityBub'. I'll just admit what happened yesterday. Bubsbrother called at about five (I hadn't been at a computer since noon) and said 'did you hear the news? The Brewers traded for Adam Dunn today' Naturally, I was excited, so I called Condescendy. He seemed quite perturbed to be talking about the subject - moreso than usual. He said it was some stupid rumor on Brewerfan and was perpetuated through a few radio stations with lazy fact checkers. After quick internet fact checking, turning up names such as 'tony gwynn' and 'matt wise', I felt like quite the dumbass. Enough to be indirectly called out on the blog? perhaps not, but stupid just the same.
I also disagree on Sosa. I think you're letting your unabashed hatred of Sosa cloud your judgment. I can post the Sosa comparison, for comparison, if you'd like.

I can't believe you guys still put up with brewerfan. I got fed up with the flat out silly rumors posted on there last season, so I haven't been reading it at all this year. IMO, it's a huge waste of time to read all the nonsense on there. I actually saw someone on there talking about what it would take to acquire Barry Bonds. Here are the rumored possibilities for the brewers today: Willis, Nathan, Dunn, Matt Morris, Loretta, Miguel Cabrera, Griffey, Blanton, Conor Jackson. I'm speaking of course about the Trade Rumors/ Proposals section. Are these people all mentally handicapped?
I didn't make that up. What I wrote is actually on Yahoo. This isn't some word of mouth thing nor some effort to call the bub family out. It's one thing for Brewerfan or some dumb sports talk radio host to say this. But, the folks at the Associated Press actually published that, thereby substantiating something that is absolutely ridiculous. Like I said, that has to violate some kind of journalistic standard.
Brewerfan was a wonderful all-around site about 5 years ago. Even then, it wasn't worth reading the trade rumors/proposals section. The site got really popular, and became populated with the newcomer Brewers fans who honestly don't know much about baseball. Their presense makes the site like any other forum; full of shortsighted hometown fans.
Brewerfan is still worth reading but only if you're interested in minor league baseball or the amatuer draft. If you're not, then don't go to the site. If you are, go to the minor league forum. It's the best place to get info on anyone in the farm system. I wouldn't spend too much time looking at rankings or other lists made by one of the site administrators, though.
I'm watching the Squeeze Play from yesterday's game (I love Fridays) and we may have a new slowest Brewer. I think Ben Sheets could beat Matt Wise in a footrace while carrying Damian Miller on his back.
Allah be praised
I'm going to miss catcher's mit
Does anyone remember Tim VanEgmond?
Isn't he the guy that lives at Lambeau Field?
"Barry Bonds gets all the attention, but it's been the other guys in the Giants lineup doing the damage pretty much all season long"
Bill Schroeder just said that. I'm not even kidding.
In case anyone was wondering, by way of VORP the Giants' lineup looks like this:
Bonds: 41.6 VORP
Rest of Hitters: Approximately 3.0 (didn't feel like doing the actual mathm, but it's about 3).
If you asked most people who talk on TV who the best player on the Giants is, they'd say Omar Vizquel...at least it seems that's what most of them would say. Vizquel has a career best -10.2 VORP, .289 OBP and .292 SLUG this season. He's going to be in the Hall of Fame. Can you believe that?
Isn't it funny that Schroeder made his comment about the team with maybe the best hitter in baseball and easily the worst rest of lineup I've ever seen, saying "that one player is alright, but nothing compared to the rest of these stars?"
Yikes, F. Did anyone see this:
Mike Coolbaugh.
