Most overrated players in baseball
I'm supposed to be studying, so obviously I'm spending as much time reading about baseball as I am reading about cost accounting. Plus also, it's an off day and there's no Brewers game to talk about, just our Pirates. So . . . who do you feel are the most overrated players in baseball? The reason I ask is because for about the fourth time today, somebody referred to Ervin Santana as though he's supposed to be some kind of uber-valuable wonderkind of a pitcher, yet he's had one year with an ERA+ over 100, and it was only 102. He reeks of league average and nothing more. Off the cuff, here are a few others I find overrated:
Carlos Lee
Ichiro
Miguel Tejada (now)
Rocco Baldelli
Nick Markakis
Carl Crawford
Carlos Zambrano
Chris Young
Josh Beckett
Mike Mussina (now)
Barry Zito
Brad Penny
Chien Ming-Wang
Obviously, I've omitted the traditional Eckstein and Erstad type players from the conversation and tried to find players undeserving of their relatively lofty 'big name' status. Of those listed, I find Baldelli the most overrated ofensive player and Santana the most overrated pitcher. Your thoughts?

Definitely Carlos Zambrano. He's having another stellar day today. Remember in Spring Training when he said he would win the Cy Young this year? What an arrogant ass. He's dug into the lowest tier of national-league starters like an Alabama tick. I wouldn't wish that on a broke-dick dog...
Most underrated? The Pittsburgh Pirates, winners of two of their last three.
Boy, these Pirates sure are pests.
I must say, I really do enjoy it when the Cubs lose.
Fantasy dork alert:
I just traded Soriano, Jose Lopez, & Taylor Tankersley for Cuddyer, J Nathan, & BJ Upton.
Dunn's comments when asked about not getting a SINGLE to hit for the cycle:
"It's cool, but it's not like a pitcher's no-hitter or something like that," said Dunn, who hit his 11th home run, seventh double and second triple of the season to raise his batting average to .286. "To me, it's something you can put on you resume. 'I hit for the cycle. Congratulations.' I'd much rather have two homers and six RBIs, or two doubles or whatever. It's something for the guys to (talk) about. Who cares? If you get four hits ands six ribbies, who cares how you get them?"
This, my friends, is further evidence of why I have such a man crush on this guy.

I have to go with our own Rickie Weeks right now. He still gets a lot of national publicity, and although he has the potential to break out at any moment, he hasn't done much to justify his reputation.
However, his defense has gotten much better, and if he finds a way to stop striking out so much and raises his average 30 points or so, and he probably becomes an elite second baseman. There really is a fine line with a lot of these guys.
Agree on Weeks, Hoss. I would have said BJ Upton too, but he's still younger than all of us, and is having a breakout season.
If you won't let me say Eckstein, Erstad, or LoDuca, I'll go with Michael Young (the worst defensive infielder in baseball who has always hit in an extreme hitter's environment and nevertheless barely posts over an .800 OPS). Do people still think Hank Blalock is a good player? I'll vote for him too, then. I'd also second the vote for Carlos Lee, given Lee's complete and utter inability to run the bases or play defense. All "rbi guys" or "clutch guys" are inherently overrated. I also vote Don Sutton and Bruce Sutter, if you'll let me. Their careers were nothing spectacular.
What about Alfanso Soriano? Impatient at the plate and can't play defense.
I'll also point out that I wouldn't vote for young players like Baldelli, Weeks, etc. Though they get media attention, no one ever says Baldelli for instance is the best outfielder in the game. I think the praise that a lot of young guys get is for "what this guy could become," not necessarily "this guy is so good."
Baldelli falls into the same category as Santana for me. They speak of what he could become, but A. he's never really demonstrated that and B. I just don't see it. In my mind, Baldelli is the offensive Santana.
Roger Clemens. That is all.
I got stuck with Santana in fantasy. Dumped him. 'nuff said.
What about Erik Bedard?
