Bullpen

Not to belabor this point or anything, as if it hasn't been talked about A TON already in Milwaukee and Brewers circles all over the country, but what is with this Helling/Lehr infatuation that Yost has?! Especially in games that the Brewers still have a chance to win, this bullpen management is awful. Let's at least see De la Rosa and (if/when the call-up happens) Jeff Bennett. Time to dump Helling (yes, already!) and get the young guys some work.

Which one of you . . .

Which one of you just started posting on brewerfan.net as Blowtallico? My sources say there's a 94% chance it's one of the contributors to this website.

Overbay did that on his own???

I don't think the game was televised in Milwaukee today, and I sure as hell didn't watch it at work today, but what I read in the Associated Press recap astounded me. with two on and nobody out down 9-8 in the top of the 9th, Overbay did the unthinkable: HE BUNTED. What's more, Yost didn't give the signal for it. In fact, Yost was quoted as saying, "As much as I wanted to bunt, I didn't want to give up an out." I've got news for you, nedly, every time you bunt you're giving up an out. But congratulations in this instance for making the right call. Mr. Overgay, on the other hand, I take exception with your decision, on SEVERAL levels. First, the aforementioned statistical level. You are less likely to score a run with runners on second and third with one out than you are on first and second with nobody out. Secondly, and most importantly, you effectively take the two best bats out of your lineup, your own and Lee's behind you, who the Mets (erroneously, mind you) intentionally walked. Thirdly, Jenkin's and Miller's hits would have put the Brewers ahead anyway. So, thankfully Overbay isn't managing the team, but hopefully Yost doesn't take this as a sign that he should be bunting more often, because, if anything, he should do the opposite.

Hi Everybody!

As most of you know, i just recently moved to Madison, and since my computer has not, as of yet, made the trip with me, my posts for the next two weeks should be few and far between. I have a few musings from the past week or so, but I'll hold on to those until tomorow when I should have a little more time to post. I would just like to point out to everybody that Jeff Jenkin's OBP is nearing the team lead (discounting Durrington and WISE), which is down right remarkable given the start he had this season. again more to follow, maybe several posts. peace

Brewer Prospect Report

Thanks to another devestating loss by the parent club, I have never been so inspired to discuss what is really important for this franchise, the minor leagues. By popular demand, I will start discussing the progress of players in the minor leagues on here.
This past February, I listed my top-25 Brewer prospects, which can be found here... http://www.angelfire.com/clone2/jimii/020905BrewersTop25.htm. I am glad to report that my assessment of a lot of players was right on. However, there has been a lot of movement on and off the list, as there always is when dealing with prospects. So, I have created a new top-30 prospects list. Why 30? Because all the players from about 20 to 30 were equal in my mind. It would be tough to make the list just 25 and leave off 5 guys that are just as qualified as the previous 5. From the previous list, de la Rosa, Hardy, and Weeks have graduated, as they are all full-time major leaguers now. Each day I will post a little blurb describing these prospects in the comments section. Feel free to ask questions or state whether you think someone is overrated or underrated. I hope this can be an interactive discussion.
Without further ado, here is my list....
1) Prince Fielder 1B
2) Corey Hart OF
3) Nelson Cruz OF
4) Dana Eveland SP
5) Carlos Villanueva SP
6) Ryan Braun 3B
